Coach Profile

Pretty much anyone can paint by numbers. That doesn’t make them Picasso. You’ll never be Frank Lloyd Wright by just following someone else’s path.  Learning the art of racing, that’s the key.  Teaching that art is where I excel.

There’s an art to coaching.  There’s so much more than just the standard, “Here’s the data from my lap, so go this fast here, brake there, throttle at this point.”  That’s not coaching.  Your learning needs to be inspired.  Think of your favorite teacher from your school days.  You were inspired to learn more than just what was going to be on the test.

You can find an instructor at any track anywhere in the world who can tell you to brake at a certain point, turn in at another point, get on the throttle at another spot, and basically get you around the track faster.  But you won’t know why you’re doing it.  My goal is that you won’t need me any more.  You’ll have learned the why of what you’re doing, and you’ll be able to apply the techniques you’ve learned to other corners, other tracks, and even on the street in your day-to-day commuting.

Calling on the classic television show, Kung Fu, my favorite words in the car are, “Patience, Grasshopper.”  And calling on one of the greatest F1 drivers in history, Alain Prost, “When I look fast, I’m not smooth and I am going slowly. And when I look slow, I am smooth and going fast.”  This is the core of being a great driver.
