Practice makes perfect, right?  Not necessarily. Without feedback and direction, additional practice won’t always improve your ability and can possibly lead to the development of bad habits.  So in reality, perfect practice makes perfect.  I have written a couple articles on the topic of Driver Development, how people learn, and the importance car control plays.  Please give these a read and if you like what you read and want to work together in person, shoot me a line.

Everyone is different, with different goals, and the way they learn is different.  From the years of instructing at structured schools to private coaching students ranging from beginners to some of the biggest names in Motorsport, I have learned that an instructor must be as diverse and adaptable to coaching the person as a racing driver must be adaptable to different cars and changing conditions.  Some people take better to data analysis, in-car video, simulator, right-seat work, etc…  I have a mobile Motec C125 Dash which can plug into any car’s OBD port and provide a high quality and consistent data (including embedded GoPro video overlays) to be able to analyze your data against yourself or a benchmark lap that I can provide.  I can also review in-car video and data in person or remotely, as well as teach methods ranging from car control, track analyzing, race craft, and more.

Billy was an engineering consultant for Roush Fenway Keslowski’s NASCAR Cup team where he helped lead the testing and development of the current 7th-generation “Next Gen” racing car that features an independent rear suspension for the first time in NASCAR history.  He also consults for various companies in different sectors of the aftermarket and performance car industry.

Billy is highly active in coaching and has clientele from track-day beginners, to mentoring and advising young aspiring racecar drivers, to business executives, actors, and professional drivers in different disciplines from NASCAR to rally racing.
